Maintaining a positive energy field around yourself is incredibly important. You may not give much thought to energy on a daily basis, but nonetheless, it plays a major role in your life. Energy is all around us, it is in all things, it is in ourselves. When our energy is off balance, we feel it in our lives. Maybe it manifests itself as extreme sadness or even physical pain. Whatever the case, if your positive energy levels are lacking, it’s important to take steps to change that. Here are some ways you can do just that:
Learn to Let Go
So many blockages in our life are the result of holding on to something. Perhaps it’s guilt, or regret, or anger. Whatever the case, it’s important to learn to let things go, releasing the negative energy associated with those feelings. Once you’re finally able to release that bad, that will leave more room in your life for positive energy to flow in.
Live an Honest Life
When I say live an honest life I mean, be true to yourself. How often do we put our own needs on the back burner so as to not inconvenience others? It’s okay to tell your loved ones if you’re not okay. It’s okay to child’s school that you don’t have the bandwidth for yet another volunteer job. When we push our needs down in order to accommodate others, it isn’t long before the negative energy surrounding our frustrations begins to take a toll on us.
Serve Others
It’s amazing what acts of service can do to improve your energy. Sincerely giving of yourself serves to elevate the positive energy of the people around you. This in turn can help you balance out your own energy. If you’ve been feeling “off” for a while, consider setting aside a day, or even just a few hours, to serve others. This could mean taking some time to volunteer at an organization you’re passionate about, or just spending the afternoon with an elderly relative that you know doesn’t receive much company. You will quickly come to find that in serving others, the negative energies tied to your own stresses seem to be lifted off of your shoulders.
Do Something That Brings You Joy
When was the last time you did something that truly brought you joy? It may seem simple, but this is something that we tend to neglect. It’s easy to get wrapped up in your everyday routine, however, it’s important to stop once in a while and do something that just for you. Different people find joy in different things. For some, joy might be found in painting, or reading a good book, or taking a hike to get grounded with nature. Too often we neglect to do the things that bring us joy because we feel that it is selfish of us to take time to ourselves. But the truth of the matter is, taking time to do the things that rejuvenate us only serves to make us better for ourselves and those around us.
